بازی نید فور اسپید کربن در سبک مسابقات اتومبیل رانی می باشد. داستان این بازی در ادامه نسخه قبلی آن بوده و از جایی آغاز می شود که شخصیت اصلی، بعد از فرار کردن از دست پلیس در جاده ای خطرناک می افتد. این جاده در انتها او را به شهری به نام Palmont می رساند که مسابقات دیوانه وار ماشین سواری در آن برگزار می شود. شما باید در نقش شخصیت اصلی داستان در این مسابقات شرکت کرده و نام خود را به‌عنوان یک راننده حرفه ای بر سر زبان ها بیندازید.
